NHL Goalie Leaders 2026-27
Save percentage and goals-against average are rate stats, so only goalies who have played enough are ranked; wins and shutouts count every game. The Vezina Trophy goes to the goalie the general managers vote the best, not to the leader of any one column.

How NHL Stats and the Scoring Awards Work
The tables above track three races that end with a trophy, and three that feed a vote. Here is what each one measures.
| Art Ross Trophy | Most points (goals plus assists) in the regular season. Tiebreak: more goals, then fewer games played, then the earlier first goal of the season. |
|---|---|
| Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy | Most goals in the regular season. No vote; the goals column decides it. |
| Vezina Trophy | Best goalie, voted by the 32 general managers. Wins, save percentage and goals-against average all feed the vote; none decides it alone. |
| Hart Memorial Trophy | Most valuable player to his team, voted by the Professional Hockey Writers Association. The points leader often wins it, but not always. |
| Calder Memorial Trophy | Best rookie, by writers' vote. A player must be under 26 on Sept. 15 of the season, with no more than 25 NHL games in any earlier season and not six or more in each of two earlier seasons. |
| Norris Trophy | Best defenseman, by writers' vote. Points from the blue line count, but so does the defending nobody tallies. |
Regular-season awards are decided on the 2026-27 season's final night, April 10, 2027, and presented at the NHL Awards in June 2027. Playoff points are a separate race and do not count toward any of them.

FAQ About NHL Stats
Who leads the NHL in points in 2026-27?
Connor McDavid, with 33 points in 11 games for the Edmonton Oilers.
Who has the most goals in the NHL in 2026-27?
Leon Draisaitl, with 12 for the Edmonton Oilers. That is the Rocket Richard Trophy race.
Who leads the NHL in assists in 2026-27?
Connor McDavid, with 25 for the Edmonton Oilers.
Which goalie has the most wins in 2026-27?
Jesper Wallstedt, with 7 for the Minnesota Wild.
How are NHL points calculated?
A player gets one point for a goal and one for an assist. Up to two assists are awarded per goal, to the last two teammates to touch the puck before the scorer. Points are the Art Ross Trophy race.
What is a good save percentage in the NHL?
League average has sat around .900 to .905 in recent seasons, and the leaders finish near .920 or better. It is saves divided by shots faced, so it rewards a goalie for every stop however many shots come.
What is the difference between the Hart and the Art Ross?
The Art Ross is a count: most points wins, no vote. The Hart is a vote by hockey writers for the most valuable player to his team, so a player on a weaker club can win it with fewer points than the Art Ross winner.
How often does this page update?
Every three hours once the season is under way, from the league feed. The Updated line at the bottom shows the last refresh in Eastern Time.

How NHL Stats Are Recorded
Every number on this page starts with the official scorer at the rink. Goals and assists are credited on the spot and can be changed by the league after a review of the video, which is why a scoring line sometimes moves the next morning.
A goal earns one point. Up to two assists are awarded on each goal, to the last two teammates who touched the puck before the scorer, and each assist is also one point. Points are goals plus assists, so a 40-goal, 60-assist season is a 100-point season.
Plus-minus counts even-strength and short-handed goals only. A skater on the ice gets plus one when his club scores and minus one when it concedes; power-play goals are left out of both sides. Shots on goal count only pucks that would have gone in without the goalie; a shot that hits the post or misses the net is not a shot on goal.
What a Good NHL Season Looks Like
For a skater, 100 points is the line that separates a very good season from a great one, and 50 goals is the same line for a shooter. Few players reach either. In 2025-26, Connor McDavid finished with 138 points and Nathan MacKinnon scored 53 goals, per NHL.com, and both led the league.
For a goalie, 30 wins in a season marks a busy, reliable starter, and a save percentage above .915 marks a good one. The league average has sat close to .900 in recent seasons, so a goalie at .920 is stopping about two more shots in every hundred than the typical starter.
One thing changes this season. The regular season grew from 82 games to 84 in 2026-27, the first change in length since 1995-96. Two extra games make a 100-point season slightly easier to reach than it was, so when you compare a 2026-27 total with an older one, the fairer number is points per game.
Reading Goalie Stats
Save percentage and goals-against average measure different things. Save percentage is saves divided by shots faced, so it judges the goalie alone. Goals-against average is goals allowed per 60 minutes, so it also reflects how many shots his club gives up. A goalie behind a strong defensive team can post a low GAA with an ordinary save percentage.
That is why the goalie tables above rank save percentage and GAA only among goalies who have played enough games, as flagged in the league data. A backup with a .950 mark after two starts is not leading anything yet. Wins and shutouts count every appearance.
The 2025-26 NHL Stats in Numbers
McDavid’s 138 points came from 48 goals and 90 assists in 82 games, eight clear of Nikita Kucherov’s 130. It was his sixth Art Ross Trophy, which ties him for second all-time behind Wayne Gretzky’s 10, per NHL.com.
MacKinnon’s 53 goals in 80 games won his first Rocket Richard Trophy, two ahead of Montreal’s Cole Caufield on 51. In goal, the league feed has Colorado’s Scott Wedgewood leading both rate stats among qualified goalies, a .921 save percentage and a 2.02 goals-against average in 45 games, with Tampa Bay’s Andrei Vasilevskiy first in wins with 39.
What I’m watching: Ottawa’s Claude Giroux won 63.1 percent of his faceoffs last season, the best mark in the league, 0.8 ahead of Colorado’s Gabriel Landeskog. Faceoff percentage rarely gets a headline, but a center who takes 1,500 draws and wins 60 percent instead of 50 hands his club the puck 150 more times in a season.
How This Page Updates
The tables refresh every three hours from the league data feed once the season is under way, so a game that ends at 10:30 PM ET is in the numbers by the next morning at the latest. The Updated line under the tables shows the last refresh in Eastern Time.
Regular-season and playoff stats are kept apart. The awards on this page are decided on the final night of the regular season, Saturday, April 10, 2027, and the tables switch to playoff stats once the playoffs begin. Trades are reflected in a player’s club as soon as the feed updates.
