Why NHL Rosters Change During the Season

    • Trades. Clubs swap players until the trade deadline.
    • Call-ups. A club brings a player up from its AHL team, often to cover an injury.
    • Injuries. A player on injured reserve does not count toward the 23.
    • Waivers. Many players must clear waivers before going to the minors, and another club can claim them.

Each roster here is checked against the data feed once a day, so a move usually shows up within 24 hours.

How to Read the Rosters on This Site

    • Birthplace is the country where a player was born, not the national team he plays for.
    • Height and weight are in feet and pounds. Club averages also show centimeters and kilograms.
    • During camp a list shows the club’s main group, not every tryout player.
    • Spot an error? Use the contact page in the footer and it gets fixed.

What I’m watching: Ottawa. The Senators traded captain Brady Tkachuk in the summer, per NHL.com, and their list already shows William Eklund and Andre Burakovsky instead. As of Sept. 21, 2026, that is the clearest sign this data keeps up with real moves.
